Landscape project in Lonzas
Up coming is the opening of the deterrent car park of Lonzas, included in the preliminary draft that we carried out for the urban integration of the Lonzas and San Cristóbal viaduct. Unfortunately this is an incomplete project, whose main characteristic and seminal goal, was that to connect the neighbourhood of Birloque and the Church of San Cristobal through a pedestrian walk way. Our preliminary draft considered a series of actions that would help mitigate the impact of the new junction at Lonzas, with which the area has definitively been fractured, destroying part of the social relations between neighbourhoods and establishing a situation of urban limit in which the human scale has not been taken into account. After an urban study, carried out with the backing of the sociologist Camilo Fernández and engineer Gael Sánchez, a series of proposals at various scales were carried out, to avoid the final isolation of the centre of San Cristobal. Finally, a landscape project with the Portuguese studio Ceregeiro was established with the aim to properly treat the urban limit and, above all, create a connection to a new park that would serve as an activation hub for the area. Unfortunately the development of the proposal has been put on hold and another company has developed the deterrent car park. We hope that some of the ideas of this draft might still be develop in the future.
