Living space for homeless
Second prize on the Ideas Competition with Intervention of a Jury (led by Manuel Gallego) for the design and construction of a minimum living space for homeless people.
Our proposal is based on three key values: prioritize the collective, mechanize construction and guarantee the adequacy of each accommodation. In order to achieve our goals, even before we determine the home itself, we decided to focus our attention on the definition of the communal areas, those that reinforce the meeting with other people, strengthen self-esteem and favour the development of cooperative activities. The accommodations are cabins of 7.20 m2. They are equipped with a one-piece sink and toilet that uses recycling water, several storage units and a folding bed and table that will allow several uses of the interior space. Each system is provided with a small photovoltaic panel enough to supply the needed electricity.
The chosen solution for the construction is based on the use of prefabricated components in order to assure a fast assembly, but more important to enable expansion or repair of the original units proposed.
